Best of the Bay Awards

Chesapeake Bay Magazine conducts an annual Best of the Bay awards. Jimmy Buffet once said, "I have never won an award for any of my music, but that doesn't matter when I have fans like Parrotheads."

So while we don't need awards to know that the best boating community is homeported here at Shipwright, well, awards can be nice too. Here are some guiding thoughts as you complete the survey.

Deale, MD is a charming Chesapeake Bay town.
Deale has a great lighted boat parade.
Shipwright is a nice resort marina, dog friendly, and clean.
Scott is likely the best Dockmaster in Maryland.

Scotty's Spring Commissioning Checklist

Out of Water Inspection:

-Check and lubricate through hull valves
-Check proppeller for pitting
-Change and inspect all zincs
-Check and clean raw water strainers

Once You're Launched:

-Open valves and run each system individually
-Drain all antifreeze and flush the fresh water system
-Flush a little bit of oil down the toilet (for valve and Joker sealing)
-Be sure shaft log and stuffing box are adjusted properly
-Double check all your hose clamps, there should be two on each hose below the water line

And most importantly - make sure your bilge pump and float switch are fully functional.

Bathroom Remodel: Framing, Plumbing, Electric, & HVAC

The bathhouse renovation is continuing to progress. The project basically consists of two phases.

Phase I - The Rough In: This includes framing, electric, plumbing and HVAC inspections. This phase should be completed this coming week. The rough-in phase typically takes longer than the finishing phase.

Phase II - The Finishing Touches: This includes drywall, tile, counters, fixtures and accessories. This phase should progress fairly rapidly.

The bathhouse should be opened and ready for use sometime in April.
