On behalf of the staff and slipholders of this boating community, we warmly welcome you to Shipwright Harbor Marina. Your homeport is the gateway to your boating adventures on the Chesapeake Bay. We're here to help make that experience easy, convenient, fun, and rewarding.
Our devoted staff works hard to ensure the marina functions properly, offers lush grounds for plenty of shore-side activity, and nurtures a platform that enables a vibrant boating community.
It is our pleasure to welcome you to Shipwright Harbor and begin creating Chesapeake Bay experiences to cherish for years to come. This is the first in a series of emails you will be receiving as you prepare to bring your boat to Shipwright. These emails will give you everything you need to get acclimated to the marina and enjoy this beautiful Bay hideaway.
In this email you will get to know a little more about our staff, you'll get a list of the exciting events we have planned for this season, and we'll give you a taste of this fun-loving boating community.
Meet the Staff
After serving in the Coast Guard, Jed started working at Herrington Harbour. While managing Herrington South for 13 years and working with many operations at Herrington North, Jed has overseen all facets of marina oprations. His favorite element of working at marinas is the slipholders. "Marinas are unique because they are a relationship oriented business rather than transaction oriented. We get the opportunity to really know slipholders year after year."
Linda is a native to Maryland, born and bred in the DC Metro area. In addition to her love of animals and gardening, she has always had a love of the water. When asked what Linda likes most about working at Shipwright, she says, "The people, slipholders, and staff alike. I have finally found my happy place at the marina, with folks here to have fun and with a staff always willing to help keep you happy!"
Here at Shipwright Scott has always tried to make boating easy and fun. Scott has sailed extensively around North America and the Caribbean. In winter he sails Florida's Gulf Coast. Besides taking the helm of every kind of boat, Scott can also drive a car, golf cart, skateboard, and his mom insane. Next time you see him say, "Hi!"
Sales and Marketing Manager
Zoe was born and raised in the Annapolis area and worked as a dockhand for 8 years prior to working at Shipwright. She has a strong love for the Bay, and can often be found on the water or near it. You may see her in the office, on the docks, or out in the yard helping Scott. You can call on her to help you dock your boat, find a slip, or to ask any question you may have about the marina or the area.
Get to know your new homeport.
No doubt you already know that Shipwright has a lot to offer, and we want to make sure you make the most of it. Below we'll show you what resources you can find on our website, where to check for real time weather conditions at the marina, the fun we plan on having this season, and where to hang out and who you'll see there once you're in your slip.
As mentioned above, under the "Tour the Marina" tab on our website, you'll find our Live Webcam. This is a great resource when you want to see what real-time weather conditions are at the marina before heading down to your slip, or when heading back from a cruise on the Chesapeake.
This is just a list. Click the links, head over to our website, or checkout Facebook for complete details!
At the pool you can relax on a lounge chair, enjoy a game of cards at a table, or on any given Friday night enjoy a beer on us! (Check out the events calendar for more info!)
At the point you'll find one of our two gazebos which hosts live music during many of our slipholder events, and is complete with a table and chairs for comfortable dining.
The Point also features many picnic tables and adirondack chairs, several propane grills, and soon a firepit.
The second gazebo is located just across from the office along the F-Dock shoreline. Complete with picnic table, a few adirondack chairs, and a beautiful sunset view, this gazebo is private and relaxing.
The Giveaway Table is located where B and C-Dock meet just outside of the bathhouses. A classic picnic table perfect for dining that sometimes boasts items slipholders wish to donate to another boater.
The staff's office mate, Bob the cat will come out and inspect your tires and brakes upon arrival, will greet you in the office, and can often be found sleeping in the flowerbeds.
You can often find Shipwright's resident otter cruising between the docks, catching fish, and occasionally stopping on The Point to enjoy his catch. Named "Fotter" due to him frequently being spotted on F-Dock.
We hope this email gave you a few good resources and a taste of your new homeport. Coming up in the next email you'll get a Guide to Deale complete with a list of local restaurants, boating services, and things to do in the area. We'll finish off this email series with navigational aides to your slip, and all the codes and keys you'll need to make Shipwright your homeport.
